Asparagus is a perennial herbaceous plant with highly branched foliage and feathery appearance. This plant consists of branched aerial stems and a subway part made up of roots and buds, which is commonly called "claw". The vegetables known as asparagus are obtained from the young shoots.

Asparagus is low in calories and is a good source of vitamin C and folate. They also have a moderate amount of provitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin B carotenoids.
