The sour orange tree is native to Asia, but it is grown anywhere in the state of Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

The fruit, despite having an unpleasant and rough appearance, contains a variety of medicinal properties: accelerates metabolism, reduces body fat, relieves respiratory diseases, insomnia, colitis, constipation, kidney and liver failure, strengthens blood vessels and, among other things, helps eliminate intestinal parasites.
